While the release Joan Baez In Concert is a nice one, the two original
releases Joan Baez In Concert [Part 1] and Joan Baez In Concert/Part 2
contain material which is omitted from the single CD release.
-
Joan Baez In Concert/Part 2 had "Railroad Bill" and "Rambler Gambler" on the
mono LP release. These were replaced by "With God On Our Side" on the stereo
releases. The two songs from the mono release were re-released on Very Early
Joan.
-
The First Ten Years, a compilation album on Vanguard (VCD-6560/1), omits five
selections that were on the LP releases: "Silver Dagger," "Will the Circle Be
Unbroken," "Carry It On," "Green, Green Grass of Home," and the medley of "London"
and "Old Welsh Song."
-
When purchasing a copy of Blessed Are ... there are two LP's in the set plus a
7-inch 33-1/3 disk containing "Deportees/Plane Wreck at Los Gatos" and "Maria
Dolores." The CD copy places these two songs on a separate CD.
-
There appears to substantial master tape damage to the tapes that Joan,
David's Album, and Carry It On were made from. Do NOT dispose of your LP
copies!
-
Hits/Greatest and Others contains an edited, single version of "Love is Just a
Four-Letter Word."
-
The Joan Baez Ballad Book which was a two-record set (Vanguard VSD-41/42) was
reissued later as two separate LP's The Joan Baez Ballad Book Volume 1 and
The Joan Baez Ballad Book Volume 2.
-
The Joan Baez Lovesong Album contains two previously-unreleased recordings:
"Come All ye Fair and Tender Ladies" and "The Lass from the Low Country."
-
The Joan Baez Contemporary Ballad Book (Vanguard VSD-49/50) contains the first
US release of "C'era un Ragazzo Che Come Amava i Beatles e i Rolling Stones."
-
The CD release of Very Early Joan omits "Streets of Laredo" and "My Good Old
Man." Some sources list additional omissions. My copy, purchased in about 1997
only omits these two.
