Data

Data Tapes have been in use for over 50 years, starting with open-reel systems from IBM, Honeywell, and others. Currently, the most widely used data tape format for archiving media data is LTO. We have no suggestions on data tape recovery, but a Google search shows many options. We suggest only using enterprise-class tapes such as LTO if your data storage needs require tape.

A good place to start if you are looking to convert older data tapes is Mueller Media Conversions.
